CBS Star DIES Suddenly at 37, Young and Restless Chance died, Very Heartbreaking News!
The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Could Chance Chancellor Return From the Dead?
The Young and the Restless fans are buzzing with speculation after a surprising social media exchange sparked renewed hope for Chance Chancellor’s return — and possibly with a familiar face stepping back into the role.
With Abby Newman making occasional appearances on the CBS soap, Melissa Ordway recently shared behind-the-scenes photos from the Y&R set on Instagram. Although Ordway is now on recurring status, viewers are always happy to see her return as Abby, even if only for short arcs.
However, it was one playful question in her post that truly caught fans’ attention.
A Social Media Moment That Sparked Big Questions
Ordway asked her followers: “If you could be any character on The Young and the Restless, who would you be? Comment below and let me know.”
Her husband, actor Justin Gaston, was quick to reply with a single word: “Chance.”
Ordway responded with laughing emojis, but fans immediately took notice. After all, Gaston previously portrayed Chance Chancellor — and the history behind that role makes his comment especially intriguing.
Justin Gaston’s History as Chance Chancellor
In 2020, Justin Gaston stepped into the role of Chance Chancellor as a temporary recast. During that time, Chance married Abby Newman in a beautiful on-screen ceremony — made even more special by the fact that Gaston and Ordway are married in real life.
Gaston is no stranger to daytime television. In addition to Y&R, he also appeared briefly on Days of Our Lives as Ben Weston, further solidifying his soap credentials.
Eventually, The Young and the Restless recast Chance on a permanent basis with Connor Floyd. Floyd’s version of Chance played a major role in the intense France storyline — which ultimately ended in tragedy.
Chance’s “Death” — Or Was It?
Chance Chancellor was shot and killed during the France arc, taking a fatal bullet fired by Carter’s henchman. His death appeared final, and the character was laid to rest.
However, longtime soap viewers know one universal truth: death is rarely permanent in daytime drama.
Could Chance’s demise have been staged? Was there more to the story than fans were shown? A resurrection twist would hardly be unprecedented — especially if the show wanted to bring the character back with a new (or former) face.
A Perfect Opportunity?
Connor Floyd has since moved on and is now filming as the new Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives. That shift leaves the door open for Y&R to revisit Chance Chancellor — and possibly bring Justin Gaston back into the role.
While Gaston’s comment may have been made in jest, many fans can’t help but wonder if the idea has real potential. A resurrected Chance would send shockwaves through Genoa City, particularly for Abby.
What’s Next for Y&R?
As The Young and the Restless continues to evolve, more cast changes and surprise twists may be on the horizon. Whether Chance Chancellor returns from the dead remains to be seen — but the conversation has certainly begun.
Stay tuned for updates on all the latest Y&R spoilers, comings and goings, and casting news.
Would you like to see Chance resurrected? Should Justin Gaston reclaim the role? The debate is officially underway.
