General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease that Cyrus Renault may have a shocking accomplice that no one would expect. No one would see a connection between Jen Sidwell and Cyrus, but here’s how they could be in cahoots.
Since the shocking news broke that Sam McCall met her end at the hands of Cyrus, one burning question has lingered in the air—why did this happen? The mystery deepened when Cyrus attempted to eliminate Michael Corinthos, leaving his motives for this violent rampage even more ambiguous.
The murder of Dex Heller seemed justified as Dex was inching too close to uncovering the truth about Sam’s death, prompting Cyrus to silence him. However, before all this chaos, someone had already meddled with Lulu Spencer’s life support. Was that also Cyrus’s doing? And if so, why would he try to kill his niece just as a liver donor match was found?
Taking a step back—when Cyrus first stepped out of prison, he presented himself as a reformed man, claiming to have turned away from his life of crime. We were skeptical, to say the least. Yet, he managed to sell this facade convincingly. He insisted he would demonstrate his transformation to Laura Collins and the residents of Port Charles, putting on his best behavior.
So, when he ended up killing Sam, it left us bewildered. While we never ruled out the possibility of his violent tendencies, taking her out made no sense. His encounters with Sam were minimal, and she was no longer tied to Jason Morgan, so revenge motives against Jason and Sonny Corinthos made no sense either.
Initially, we speculated that he removed Sam from the picture for Lulu’s benefit, but that reasoning doesn’t hold up. After all, Sam regained consciousness long before Lulu did. He felt a sense of guilt regarding Lulu’s coma, leading us to believe he aimed to assist her in reclaiming her life. By eliminating Sam, that would allow Lulu to reconnect with Dante Falconeri once she awakened.
Then, during the week of January 20, Lucky Spencer and Elizabeth Baldwin pondered whether Cyrus was roaming the hospital as a sort of angel of mercy. Other patients suffering from intense pain or facing death had also been given lethal doses of digitalis. However, as Lucky pointed out, both Sam and Dex were on the road to recovery.
Amidst the swirling confusion surrounding Cyrus’s intentions, we began to entertain the notion that his motives might not be the sole focus in this tangled web.
What if Cyrus isn’t acting alone? Perhaps he has an accomplice—someone like Sidwell. This could shed light on Sidwell’s unexpected presence in the hospital chapel, where he overheard Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson).
Picture this: Cyrus, driven by a twisted sense of mercy, starts ending the lives of patients suffering immensely with little hope for recovery, believing he’s alleviating their pain. But then, Sidwell, catching wind of these grim actions, exerts pressure on Cyrus to collaborate.
Together, they set their sights on Sam, knowing her demise could serve as a clever diversion—throwing Jason and Sonny’s attention away from their underworld dealings.
It’s easy to imagine Sidwell persuading Cyrus to eliminate Michael as well. Once again, Michael’s misfortune has turned into a distraction for Sonny and Jason. And in a twisted sense, Cyrus might actually feel sympathy for Michael due to his severe burns.
Secondly, as Sidwell carves out his presence in Port Charles, it’s likely he has ambitions to seize control of Sonny’s territory. With the Dimpled Kingpin and Stone Cold preoccupied with their own crisis, Sidwell may see this as the perfect opportunity to stake his claim on the town’s piers.
And as for Cyrus? He keeps playing preacher man as a front, but he still wants Sonny’s territories as much as he ever did.
