The Young and the Restless

CBS Legend Passes Away At Age 39, Y&R Hints At Next Big Death, Devon Walters Opens Up

While we are all still reeling from the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg at just 39 years old, Braden James is grappling with the loss as well. Back in the day, the two of them were child stars together—he was stealing scenes on the primetime sitcom Family Matters, and she was moving from daytime, where she got her start on All My Children, into features like Harriet the Spy.

He even shared a sweet photo of himself with his pal as kids, much like the one below.

“Rest in peace, old friend,” The Young and the Restless Emmy winner wrote in an Instagram Story.

Div’s portrayer is far from the only actor to memorialize Trachtenberg, whose career took her from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Gossip Girl.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, another All My Children alum who played Trachtenberg’s butt-kicking older sister on Buffy, quoted her character’s own words from a pivotal Season 5 episode:

“Michelle, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Be brave. Live for me.”

Blake Lively, who worked with Trachtenberg on Gossip Girl, described her on social media as someone who “laughed the fullest at someone’s joke. She faced authority head-on when she felt something was wrong. She cared deeply about her work. She was proud to be a part of this community and industry, as painful as it could be sometimes. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and brave for those she loved. She was big and bold and distinctly herself.”
