Days of our Lives: Who Really Shot EJ? Innocent Woman Jailed!

Hey, Days of Our Lives fans. So, with EJ DiMera awake, we fully expect his memory to return about who shot him. And there’s more than a few suspects—but you have to wonder, who really did it?

It’s Belinda from Soap Dirt, and let’s dive into the possible shooters—and whether or not EJ will rat them out to the cops once his memories return.

But first, please click subscribe if you aren’t following us!

So, Belle Black confirmed to EJ this week she does indeed love him.
And of course, Sami Brady was out of town, as far as we know.
So those two women are two we can take off the suspect list.

Also, Rachel Blake—while crazy—does not seem to be an option either since EJ has her stashed somewhere, so she can’t blab to Jada or the SPD that he kidnapped Rafe.

We don’t have Arnold Finnegger on the list either because he’s been shipped out of town.
And while he’s not too happy, he’s also in the tropics somewhere on a beach living off of EJ DiMera’s dime.

So, if Arnold killed EJ, then he’d be left broke and still a criminal.

As for his lookalike, Rafe—I also don’t think it was him.
Let’s face it: he lacks that killer instinct, and he’s had zero flashbacks of that night—unlike a lot of other people.

So, with that in mind, let’s dive into who the actual viable suspects in the case are, so we can see who really shot EJ.

First up: Roman Brady.
It feels like his wife, Kate Roberts, has been pretty much eliminated as a shooting suspect.
We know she really hates EJ, but she denied it to Rex Brady, to Roman, and to Philip.
And we’ve not seen Kate having any flashbacks of that night like so many of the other suspects have had.

However, her husband Roman does keep having flashbacks—about the gun safe at the Brady Pub.
It’s pretty strange, because we know Johnny took the gun, but Roman keeps having these flashbacks.

We also know how much he hates EJ because of what he did to Sami Brady.
But Roman, to me, feels like a long shot.
If EJ remembers it was Roman, yeah—he’d definitely press charges in payback for him telling Johnny about Sami’s rape.

Next up: Gabi Hernandez.
She’s also plagued by flashbacks and strange emotions over the night of the shooting.

Susan Banks accused Gabi, grabbing her hand and having a psychic moment.
She saw Gabi outside the DiMera mansion that night.
And yeah—she was definitely there.

But Susan didn’t see Gabi pulling the trigger and shooting her beloved Elvis Jr.
She just knew that Gabi was there.

Now, Gabi dumped JJ over the attempted murder accusations, and sure—I could see Gabi shooting EJ to find out Rafe’s location.

But now that he’s home safe, it doesn’t make sense for Gabi to shoot him and risk her future or going back to prison a third time.

Still—if Gabi did shoot EJ, he would laugh while pressing charges.

One top candidate that would be really problematic as the shooter? Johnny DiMera.
If his beloved son shot him, I could actually see EJ covering for Johnny once his memories return.

We’ve seen flashbacks of Roman’s gun container and Johnny taking it out of the lockbox.
And when Chad told Johnny that EJ was awake and coming out of the coma—Johnny had no interest in seeing his dad.
That might be because he’s struggling with guilt over shooting EJ.

Despite the flashbacks and Johnny having a gun, however—I just don’t see Chanel’s hubby as the type to shoot his father, no matter how mad he was.

Another wide-open suspect? Ava Vitali.
She’s been written out of the show, so blaming Tamara Braun’s character would be easy.

My leaker told me Ava was the first character that was a casualty of the new writing regime—though that hasn’t been officially confirmed.

Ava ran off to be with Tripp in Hong Kong.
It was suspicious when she threw Melinda’s gun into a trash can instead of returning it to its rightful owner.

JJ says they’re still looking for Ava, but bottom line—if the ballistics on Melinda’s gun come back clean, they’ll probably stop searching.

Realistically, Ava had more of a grudge against Kristen than EJ.
So I’m not really feeling her as the culprit.

There’s a chance Ava might wind up scapegoated—at least temporarily—because she’s gone.
And if EJ remembered that it was his son who shot him, he might try and accuse Ava instead.

But again, I don’t think it’s her.

Another possible shooter: Jada Hunter, police commissioner.
Her gun went missing, which Shawn noticed the night of the shooting—when Jada was really drunk.

I don’t recall them saying the gun ever turned up.
If you remember it, drop a comment!

If she was sober, I doubt she’d shoot EJ.
But drunk and worried about Rafe? I could see her maybe putting a non-lethal bullet in him to make him talk.

So yeah—plausible, but still unlikely.
And if it was her, EJ would turn her in in a heartbeat.

Then there’s Kristen DiMera.
She’s EJ’s adoptive sister—and had a gun and plenty of anger.

She got hauled in by JJ and Shawn, but her gun passed the ballistics test.
Then they tried to say, “Well, Kristen might have used another gun,” but Melinda said, “You don’t have another gun, so you’re not keeping her,” and pulled Kristen out of custody.

If EJ remembered Kristen shot him, he would definitely turn her in—especially since her daughter Rachel was going to testify against EJ and send him to prison.

So yeah—Kristen is a plausible suspect.

And finally—EJ’s insane little niece: Rachel Black.
My leaker told me a while ago that she shoots her uncle EJ.

They said it was an accident—but it could’ve been on purpose.

If Rachel overheard Kristen talking to her brother, she might have thought Uncle EJ hurt her namesake grandma, Rachel Blake.

According to my leaker, Kristen will confess to the crime to protect Rachel.
EJ settles for seeing his sister go to prison—since she recently tried to send him to prison.

And in behind-the-scenes photos, you’ll see Kristen in a Statesville prison uniform—denim shirt, white tank top, and denim pants.

Definitely not her usual skintight dresses.

So yeah—EJ may let the real shooter (Rachel) off the hook and watch his sister Kristen go down for the crime.

The only way that makes sense is if Kristen really did it—or if she’s protecting Rachel.

We’ll find out more as EJ’s memories return this week and next.

Looking like a Kristen and Rachel combo!
