Did General Hospital Do Eva LaRue Dirty? Natalia Was A Big Dud
Fans rejoiced when they heard that Eva LaRue was coming to General Hospital. Now that her run has ended, they are left scratching their heads. What was that?
Remember the good old days when soaps ruled ABC daytime? That was when Eva LaRue starred as Maria on All My Children. Neurosurgeon Maria had wonderful storylines, and she and Edmund (the late John Callahan) were an epic couple. La Rue was nominated for an Emmy Award for the role.
The actress went on to star in CSI: Miami, and also had roles in series such as Fuller House and George Lopez.
Not Even Close
In 2024, it was announced that LaRue would return to Daytime as Natalia Ramirez on GH. Fans rejoiced! Her role would certainly be juicy, especially as Blaze’s (ex-Jacqueline Grace Lopez) mom. There was so much potential.
What happened was the exact opposite. It felt as if they didn’t know what to do with Natalia. She came right out of the gate as homophobic, which immediately made her unlikable. She may have eventually had a mother/daughter storyline with her daughter, but then Blaze was gone.
Natalia and Sonny (Maurice Benard) were the love story that never was because they never quite became a couple. She turned out to be Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) ex, which could have caused a lot of trouble in Port Charles, but it didn’t. At the end, she suddenly had an alcohol problem, which was never mentioned before. Now she is dead.
