Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Dimitri Returns and Kidnaps Gwen as Leo Launches a Dangerous Rescue

Gwen’s sudden disappearance sends shockwaves through Salem on Days of Our Lives, and EJ DiMera quickly becomes the leading suspect. Given his recent conflicts with Gwen and his growing list of secrets, nearly everyone assumes that EJ arranged to have her removed.

However, EJ may be telling the truth when he insists that he had nothing to do with the disappearance.

The real culprit could be Dimitri von Leuschner, who may have secretly returned to Salem with revenge on his mind. Still furious over Gwen’s betrayal and everything that happened between them, Dimitri could abduct her and hide her in an isolated location while he decides how to punish her.

EJ becomes the obvious suspect

Gwen’s failure to answer calls immediately raises concerns among Leo, Kayla and others who know that she had recently been involved in a serious dispute with EJ.

EJ had strong motives to silence her. Gwen may possess damaging evidence connected to his business activities, illegal medical experiments and attempts to cover up the tainted-drug scandal involving Holly.

Because of that history, EJ’s denials sound unconvincing.

Even Johnny may believe that his father arranged the kidnapping to protect himself. Rafe and Cat could also begin examining EJ’s movements, finances and known associates in hopes of finding evidence that links him to Gwen’s disappearance.

For once, however, EJ may genuinely be innocent.

His real problem could be that no one in Salem trusts him anymore. After years of lies and manipulation, even the truth sounds like another DiMera scheme when it comes from his mouth.

Dimitri returns for revenge

Dimitri’s secret return would offer a far more personal explanation for Gwen’s disappearance.

Their relationship ended in betrayal, humiliation and unresolved anger. Dimitri may still blame Gwen for destroying his plans and abandoning him when he needed her most.

Instead of confronting her publicly, he could wait until she is alone and take her somewhere no one will easily find.

Dimitri may want to force Gwen to confess exactly why she betrayed him. He could also demand that she help him recover money, evidence or control over something he believes was stolen from him.

Another possibility is that Gwen is only one part of a larger revenge plan.

Dimitri may intend to use her as leverage against Leo, EJ or other members of the DiMera family. Keeping Gwen hidden would allow him to manipulate several people at once while remaining invisible.

Leo discovers that Dimitri is back

Leo initially struggles to believe that Dimitri could have returned without anyone noticing.

However, his suspicions grow after he overhears a mysterious conversation and finds a clue connected to Gwen’s disappearance. The evidence may include a familiar object, a secret message or surveillance footage showing someone who resembles Dimitri.

Leo quickly realizes that Gwen may be in immediate danger.

He considers contacting the police, but worries that a formal investigation will move too slowly. If Dimitri discovers that the authorities are closing in, he could relocate Gwen or harm her before anyone reaches the hiding place.

That fear may convince Leo to investigate alone.

Leo risks everything to save Gwen

Despite their complicated history, Leo remains deeply loyal to Gwen.

They have betrayed, insulted and disappointed each other countless times, but their friendship has survived situations that would have permanently separated most people. Leo may decide that he cannot wait for Rafe or the Salem Police Department to act.

He could secretly follow Dimitri, trace a suspicious vehicle or break into a location connected to the von Leuschner family.

The decision would be extremely dangerous.

Dimitri is intelligent, unpredictable and likely prepared for interference. If he realizes that Leo is following him, he may deliberately lead Leo into a trap.

Instead of rescuing Gwen, Leo could become Dimitri’s second prisoner.

Gwen faces a terrifying confrontation

While Leo searches for her, Gwen may be forced to confront the consequences of her past choices.

Dimitri could accuse her of pretending to love him while secretly planning to betray him. Gwen may attempt to defend herself by explaining that she was protecting her future or reacting to his own dishonesty.

Their confrontation could reveal that Dimitri’s feelings for Gwen are not entirely gone.

His anger may be mixed with obsession, heartbreak and a desire to force her to admit that their relationship meant something. That emotional instability would make him even more dangerous because his actions may not follow any logical plan.

Gwen could try to manipulate those feelings to create an opportunity to escape.

However, Dimitri knows how deceptive she can be and may anticipate every move she makes.

Leo could expose a much larger scheme

The attempted rescue may reveal that Dimitri did not return only for Gwen.

He could be connected to the missing evidence against EJ, the Resurrection Serum project or another secret operation involving the DiMera family. Gwen may have discovered his plan before her disappearance, making her a threat that needed to be controlled.

Leo’s investigation could therefore place him at the center of a much larger conspiracy.

The truth may ultimately clear EJ of the kidnapping accusation, but it will not solve his other problems. At the same time, Dimitri’s return could reignite old romances, rivalries and grudges throughout Salem.

Leo may be Gwen’s best chance of survival, but rushing into the situation alone could give Dimitri exactly what he wants: two enemies trapped in the same place, with no one else knowing where to find them.
