The Young and the Restless Early Spoilers August 17–21: Sharon Saves Nick as Billy Spirals Out of Control
The Young and the Restless is setting up a turbulent week from August 17–21, with Nick Newman hitting rock bottom, Sharon Newman racing to help him, and Billy Abbott becoming increasingly obsessed with a mystery at Chancellor.
Meanwhile, Nikki and Victor Newman return early from Italy, Victoria Newman and Kyle Abbott may finally act on their growing attraction, major changes are coming at Winters, and several Genoa City relationships could be pushed to breaking point.
Nick Hits Rock Bottom
Nick’s addiction storyline takes a frightening turn before the new week even begins.
After disappearing and avoiding his family, Nick ends up in a rundown motel room with Marie. Both are high, and the situation quickly becomes dangerous.
Nick prepares to leave, even writing Marie a note encouraging her to get help. But before he can go, he realizes she is not moving.
Marie has overdosed.
Nick immediately performs CPR and manages to revive her before calling 911 despite her objections. Paramedics eventually take Marie away.
Once Nick is alone, the full weight of what has happened finally seems to hit him.
He breaks down crying and makes the call his family has been desperately hoping for.
He calls Sharon.
Nick admits he is doing terribly and asks her to come get him.
Sharon Rides to Nick’s Rescue
Sharon wastes no time responding.
By the end of the week, she appears to be the person helping Nick return to rehab after his relapse.
That could become a powerful emotional moment between the former couple.
Sharon has known Nick for most of his life and has seen him survive countless crises. This time, however, Nick is not fighting another Newman enemy.
He is fighting himself.
Upcoming scenes also place Sharon at the Newman ranch with Nikki and Victoria, where she may explain exactly what happened and reveal that Nick finally reached out for help.
For Nikki, the news could bring both relief and enormous guilt.
Nikki Blames Herself
Nikki has been trying to stay strong, but Nick’s addiction is clearly devastating her.
She continues blaming herself because of her own history with addiction and appears to fear that she somehow passed those struggles on to her son.
But Nick’s relapse is not Nikki’s fault.
Victor and Nikki reportedly cut their Italy trip short and return home early because of their concern for Nick.
Whether the crisis finally changes Victor’s priorities remains another question.
Victor still has multiple vendettas consuming his attention, and his obsession with controlling everyone around him continues causing trouble for several members of the family.
Billy’s Chancellor Obsession Gets Worse
Billy Abbott is heading toward another major meltdown.
Cain reveals to Jack and Diane that Billy has already become fixated on a mysterious secret connected to Chancellor.
That obsession is creating problems almost immediately after Billy began working there.
Cain even warns that if Billy refuses to stop digging, he may have no choice but to fire him.
The situation alarms Jack and Diane because Billy’s obsessive behavior has caused serious problems before.
Diane compares his fixation to an addiction, while Jack becomes concerned after learning Cain may already regret hiring his brother.
And Billy appears nowhere close to backing down.
Billy Could Lose Both His Job and Sally
The week of August 17–21 could make Billy’s situation even worse.
His obsession begins complicating things for both Lily and Cain, and his increasingly reckless choices could put his new Chancellor position at risk.
If Cain fires him, Billy may spiral even further.
There is also his relationship with Sally to consider.
Billy is reportedly getting dangerously close to losing her as well.
If he continues prioritizing his investigation over their relationship, he could find himself without Sally at a particularly important moment in their lives.
Billy believes he is uncovering something important.
But the bigger question is whether proving himself right will be worth everything he may lose.
Lily Takes Control of Winters
Major changes are also happening at Winters.
Devon is preparing to step away as he pursues plans involving a liberal arts college, while Nate may have an opportunity to return to surgery.
Nate learns about a possible procedure that could restore function to his hand and give him another chance at the medical career he lost.
Lily strongly encourages him to pursue it.
With Devon leaving and Nate possibly returning to medicine, Lily is prepared to take full control of Winters herself.
Cain even offers to return Chancellor to her, but Lily declines.
She believes she can run Winters while Cain continues handling Chancellor.
That decision also gives Lily and Cain more opportunities to continue rebuilding their relationship.
Victoria and Kyle Could Finally Kiss
One of next week’s most intriguing romantic developments involves Victoria and Kyle.
The two recently came extremely close to kissing while Kyle comforted Victoria during her emotional breakdown over Nick.
Their chemistry has become difficult to ignore.
Now the week of August 17–21 may bring another step forward.
A kiss appears increasingly possible.
That would create enormous complications considering Kyle’s history with Claire and Summer, plus Victor’s long-running war with the Abbott family.
Any relationship between Kyle and Victoria would immediately become a Newman-Abbott scandal.
And Victor would almost certainly hate it.
Chelsea and Adam Reach a Breaking Point With Victor
Adam and Chelsea are also growing increasingly frustrated with Victor.
Both are already worried about Nick, and they are tired of constantly being dragged into Newman family warfare.
If Victor returns from Italy and immediately resumes attacking Adam, Billy or Sally, Adam and Chelsea could finally decide they have had enough.
They may begin considering whether the healthiest choice is simply to distance themselves from Victor and all the chaos surrounding him.
Marie May Not Be Gone
Nick’s encounter with Marie may also continue.
Because Marie appears to be a recurring character, she could show up again, possibly in rehab alongside Nick.
If that happens, Sharon may learn much more about what happened during Nick’s relapse — including his intimate encounter with Marie.
Marie herself appears to have serious personal problems, including a damaged marriage and her own addiction.
Her connection to Nick may therefore be far from over.
More Romance and Trouble Ahead
Elsewhere in Genoa City, Danny is preparing a romantic surprise for Christine involving a new love song, while more scenes are expected at the Shadow Room.
Matt and Phyllis continue getting closer despite the disapproval of nearly everyone around them.
Phyllis may even proudly bring Matt to the Shadow Room, potentially horrifying Danny and Christine.
Mariah’s storyline is also expected to receive more attention soon.
A Dangerous Week for the Newmans and Abbotts
The week of August 17–21 could become a major turning point for several families.
Nick finally asks for help after nearly watching Marie die.
Sharon once again becomes the person he trusts during his darkest moment.
Billy risks destroying his career and relationship because he cannot let go of his latest obsession.
Victoria and Kyle edge closer to crossing a romantic line.

For Nick, the question is whether hitting rock bottom will finally convince him to commit to recovery.
For Billy, the danger is almost the opposite.
While Nick is finally asking someone to save him, Billy may be heading straight toward disaster without realizing he needs saving too.
