Days of Our Lives: EJ DiMera Faces Arrest as His Crimes Begin Closing In

EJ DiMera may soon discover that even the most powerful man in Salem cannot escape the consequences of his actions forever. The Days of Our Lives schemer has spent months manipulating enemies, conducting secret experiments and arranging kidnappings, but the authorities are finally beginning to connect the dots.

Unless EJ stays one step ahead of the investigation, he could be trading the luxury of the DiMera mansion for a metal bunk at Statesville.

Susan Banks Warns EJ About His Dark Side

EJ recently received an unexpected visit from his colorful and psychic mother, Susan Banks. Almost immediately, Susan sensed something evil surrounding her son.

She reminded EJ that he was not destined to become a monster like his late father, Stefano DiMera. Susan was especially disturbed to see Stefano’s Phoenix ring on EJ’s finger. Believing the jewelry carried dark energy, she took the ring, spiritually cleansed it and returned it to him.

Unfortunately, Susan’s warning may have come too late.

EJ has already crossed numerous moral and legal lines. Despite everything he has experienced—including being shot, presumed dead and eventually returning to Salem—he has never truly changed. Like Stefano, EJ continues to believe that power, money and the DiMera name can protect him from accountability.

Gwen’s Revenge Destroys EJ’s Hospital Plans

One of EJ’s biggest problems began with his secret partnership with Gwen.

EJ helped Gwen arrange the kidnapping of her wealthy and unfaithful husband, Dimitri. In exchange, Gwen provided a major financial investment that allowed EJ to pursue control of the hospital and build a secret laboratory.

The pair also funded Dr. Rolf’s dangerous experiments. EJ hoped that Rolf’s serum, combined with Versix, could become a revolutionary sepsis treatment. The potential profits were enormous, especially if Rolf’s resurrection formula could also be sold through illegal channels.

However, the experiment failed, and EJ eventually betrayed Gwen.

Gwen was furious, but she had prepared a backup plan. Using money from her divorce settlement, she moved to purchase the hospital herself. Her revenge succeeded when the hospital board censured EJ for unethical behavior, including conducting human experiments without proper approval.

Kayla then delivered the devastating news: EJ was out, and Gwen was becoming the hospital’s new owner.

Lexie’s Condition Could Lead to Criminal Charges

EJ’s experimental program becomes even more dangerous because of what happened to his sister, Lexie.

Lexie was resurrected after being presumed dead for approximately 15 years. Bringing her back had been one of Stefano’s wishes, and EJ desperately wanted to make it happen. However, the treatment was never proven to be safe.

Now Lexie is paying the price.

She is furious that EJ allowed her resurrection without knowing whether the serum would continue working. Dr. Rolf gave Lexie another injection, which briefly improved her condition, but her symptoms quickly returned. A second dose had little effect, and Rolf has since disappeared.

Lexie is collapsing, and her time may be running out.

If she dies as a direct result of the experimental treatment, EJ could face serious criminal consequences. Abe may also decide to pursue a civil lawsuit against his brother-in-law.

The original experiment involved someone who was legally presumed dead, allowing EJ to argue that he had not endangered a living patient. Lexie’s situation is different. She was alive when the continuing experimental treatments failed, making it much harder for EJ to avoid responsibility.

Rafe and Cat Investigate Gwen’s Disappearance

Rafe and ISA agent Cat are already investigating EJ’s hospital-related crimes.

Gwen’s sudden disappearance, combined with the stolen dead-man-switch confession letter from Melinda’s office, gave the investigators an important clue. They had been trying to identify EJ’s mysterious financial backer, and now they are also investigating who may have taken Gwen.

Rafe confronted EJ at the DiMera mansion because EJ is an obvious suspect.

However, EJ may actually be innocent in Gwen’s disappearance. Dimitri could be responsible, possibly seeking revenge after the authorities failed to arrest Gwen and EJ for kidnapping him.

That may remove one potential charge from EJ’s growing list, but it will not end the investigation.

EJ Arranges Kristen’s Kidnapping

While the police investigate one disappearance, EJ is preparing another kidnapping.

EJ is furious with Kristen for allegedly using Sophia Choi in a plot against Johnny. His anger intensified when Kristen began getting close to EJ’s daughter, Sydney, even inviting her to attend Fashion Week in Paris.

Believing Kristen may target Sydney just as she targeted Johnny, EJ orders a henchman to kidnap his sister. The plan is to lock Kristen inside a shipping container and send her to the DiMera island.

Lexie overhears EJ discussing the plan with Rita and warns Kristen.

Kristen then suggests that Lexie take her place in the container so she can spend her final days peacefully on the island. However, their plan appears destined to fail. Lexie may collapse before the switch can happen, or EJ may order Kristen’s kidnapping earlier than expected.

Either way, EJ reportedly succeeds in removing Kristen from Salem.

If Lexie exposes the kidnapping before she dies, the police may have enough information to search for Kristen and build a case against EJ. He will undoubtedly deny everything, but finding Kristen on the DiMera island could provide the evidence investigators need.

The Tainted Pills Could Finally Bring EJ Down

EJ may also face consequences connected to DiMera Pharmaceuticals and the tainted pills dumped on Smith Island.

The contaminated medication entered the island’s water supply and reportedly caused multiple deaths. The same scandal nearly killed Holly Jonas during the incident at the Horton cabin.

Johnny knows important details about the situation, although it remains uncertain whether he would testify against his father.

Sarah, Xander and Brady also suspect that EJ planted pills in Holly’s hospital bag. Xander remembered leaving the bag unattended long enough for EJ to interfere with it. Unfortunately, without a witness or physical evidence, proving the accusation could be difficult.

Still, the tainted medication investigation may provide the strongest opportunity to connect EJ directly to criminal wrongdoing.

EJ currently has several advantages. Rita remains loyal to him, Dr. Rolf has disappeared, Gwen may have been kidnapped by Dimitri, and Kristen could remain missing without anyone knowing where she was taken.

But EJ has committed too many crimes and created too many enemies. He may avoid responsibility for one scheme, but escaping every investigation will be nearly impossible.

For the first time, it appears that Salem’s most powerful DiMera could genuinely be heading toward an arrest—and possibly a long stay in Statesville.
