The Bold and the Beautiful: Is Dylan Becoming the New Steffy Forrester?

A new generation of romantic rivalry may be taking shape on The Bold and the Beautiful, and Dylan could be preparing to follow one of the most famous playbooks in the soap’s history.

Actress Sydney Bullock recently offered an intriguing clue about Dylan’s future. During a podcast interview, Bullock revealed that she has been watching Season 24 of the CBS soap after a conversation with head writer and executive producer Bradley Bell.

According to Bullock, Bell told her that a character featured during that season resembles the person Dylan will eventually become. Although neither Bullock nor Bell named the character directly, the events of Season 24 strongly suggest that Dylan may be developing into a new version of Steffy Forrester.

That possibility could transform the current tension between Dylan, Will Spencer and Electra Forrester into the show’s next major love triangle.

Why Season 24 Matters

Season 24, which aired during 2010 and 2011, was an important period in the early rivalry between Steffy and Hope Logan.

At the time, Hope was in love with Liam Spencer, while Steffy became increasingly determined to win him for herself. The triangle eventually developed into one of the soap’s longest-running and most controversial romantic stories.

The current situation involving Dylan appears to contain several striking similarities.

Will insists that he remains in love with Electra. Dylan, however, has developed strong feelings for him and believes she deserves an opportunity to pursue a relationship with him.

That places Will in the Liam role, while Dylan and Electra could become the new Steffy and Hope.

The biggest question is which woman is intended to resemble which original character.

Based on Dylan’s recent behavior—and the events Bradley Bell reportedly asked Bullock to study—it appears increasingly likely that Dylan is being positioned as the new Steffy.

Will Rescuing Dylan Mirrors Liam Saving Steffy

One of the most important moments in Steffy and Liam’s early story occurred after Steffy suffered an accident in her bathroom.

She slipped, struck her head and nearly drowned in the bathtub. Liam found her, performed CPR and saved her life.

At that point, Liam was emotionally committed to Hope. However, the rescue created a powerful bond between him and Steffy. She developed a deep attraction to him and soon began pursuing him much more aggressively.

Dylan’s connection to Will began under similarly emotional circumstances.

When Dylan had nowhere stable to live, Will helped rescue her from homelessness. He offered her shelter and gave her a sense of safety when she desperately needed it.

Dylan has now told both Electra and Jessica that Will essentially saved her.

That choice of words is significant. Just as Steffy’s feelings intensified after Liam saved her, Dylan’s loyalty and attraction to Will may have grown because he helped her during the lowest point of her life.

Could Bill Spencer Help Dylan Win Will?

The original Steffy and Liam storyline also involved Bill Spencer.

Bill believed Steffy was a better match for Liam than Hope. He actively supported Steffy and even helped manipulate events so that she could marry Liam in Aspen.

Hope was trapped inside a gondola and forced to watch the wedding from above while Steffy and Liam exchanged vows.

Bill’s interference was cruel, but it demonstrated how far he was willing to go to control his son’s romantic future.

History could repeat itself with Will.

Bill has already expressed frustration with Electra and the way she has treated his son. He believes Will should move forward instead of continuing to chase someone who repeatedly doubts him.

That attitude could eventually make Bill an unexpected ally for Dylan.

If Bill decides Dylan is the better partner for Will, he may begin encouraging the relationship—or even interfering behind the scenes to push Electra out of the picture.

That would likely put him in direct conflict with Katie Logan.

Katie has advised Will not to give up on Electra. While Bill wants his son to move on, Katie appears determined to preserve Will and Electra’s relationship.

Their disagreement could turn the younger love triangle into another Spencer family battle.

Will Dylan Begin Fighting Dirty?

Dylan was originally introduced as a sweet, sincere and vulnerable young woman.

She genuinely appears to care about Will. Her feelings do not seem to be motivated by money, status or a desire to hurt Electra.

However, viewers have recently seen a stronger and more defiant side of her.

When Electra ordered Dylan to stay away from Will, Dylan refused to back down. She reminded Electra that she had ended the relationship more than once and had recently told Will that they would never reunite.

Dylan made a reasonable argument: if Electra no longer wants Will, why should Dylan be forbidden from pursuing him?

She also reminded Electra that she has formed her own connection with Will.

The confrontation revealed an unexpected amount of confidence and attitude. Dylan is no longer willing to quietly accept Electra’s demands.

That could be the beginning of a Steffy-style transformation.

During Season 24, Steffy was bold, competitive and willing to use questionable tactics to defeat Hope. In one memorable scheme, she sabotaged a Hope for the Future event by altering its sign in an embarrassing way.

Electra now has her own jewelry line and promotional launches. That raises the possibility that Dylan could eventually interfere with one of those events, humiliating Electra professionally while also escalating their romantic rivalry.

Nothing currently confirms that Dylan will go that far. However, Bradley Bell’s reference to Season 24 suggests viewers may soon see a more mischievous, aggressive and possibly dangerous side of her.

Electra Is Not Entirely Innocent

Interestingly, Electra currently behaves more like the old Steffy than Dylan does.

Electra has attempted to control Dylan’s behavior, dictate whom she is allowed to date and use Dylan’s housing situation against her.

She also claimed that she and Will had taken Dylan in, even though the home belonged to Will and he was the one who offered Dylan a place to stay.

Before Dylan had even settled into the room above Will’s garage, Electra confronted her and threatened to send her back onto the streets if she crossed a boundary.

That behavior created resentment long before Dylan openly challenged her.

Their most recent confrontation became even uglier when Electra insulted Dylan. After that exchange, Dylan may believe she no longer owes Electra loyalty or restraint.

Electra attempted to present the conflict as a matter of friendship and female solidarity, but Dylan sees the situation differently. From her perspective, Electra repeatedly rejected Will and now wants to prevent anyone else from having him.

Katie Pushes Will Back Toward Electra

Just as Will began accepting that he might need to let Electra go, Katie intervened.

She encouraged her son to continue fighting for the relationship, despite Electra’s lack of trust and her repeated willingness to walk away.

Will is now expected to approach Electra and ask for another chance.

However, a reunion is far from guaranteed.

Electra is facing pressure from Ridge, Eric and R.J. regarding her romantic decisions. She may also continue insisting that Will prove his loyalty by distancing himself from Dylan.

Electra could even issue another ultimatum, telling Will that he cannot remain close to Dylan if he wants their relationship back.

Such a demand would place Will in a difficult position. Dylan depends on him and feels deeply connected to him, while Electra expects him to prioritize their damaged romance.

The more Electra attempts to control his choices, the more she may push him toward Dylan.

A New Version of Steffy, Liam and Hope?

The similarities are becoming difficult to ignore.

Liam saved Steffy, and she fell for him. Will saved Dylan, and she now believes he changed her life.

Liam was committed to Hope while Steffy pursued him. Will claims to love Electra while Dylan refuses to surrender her chance with him.

Bill helped Steffy compete for Liam. He could now become Dylan’s supporter in the battle for Will.

If Bradley Bell is deliberately recreating elements of Season 24, Dylan, Will and Electra may be designed as the next Steffy, Liam and Hope.

R.J. could even occupy a role similar to Wyatt Spencer’s later position in the original triangle, creating additional romantic complications.

Still, Dylan’s transformation may not happen overnight. She currently has sincere feelings and understandable reasons for standing up to Electra.

The real turning point will come if Dylan moves from defending herself to actively manipulating Will or sabotaging her rival.

For now, Dylan is simply refusing to step aside.

But if Sydney Bullock’s Season 24 research is a genuine clue, viewers may soon witness the birth of a much bolder character—one who is ready to fight like Steffy Forrester and possibly play just as dirty to get the man she wants.
