The Young and the Restless Spoilers for July 20–24: Adam Betrays Victor as Phyllis Seduces Matt

The week of July 20–24 brings secret deals, dangerous temptations and potentially life-changing medical news to The Young and the Restless. Adam Newman quietly plots against Victor Newman by making Sally Spectra an offer that could provoke his father’s fury if the truth comes out.

Meanwhile, Phyllis Summers refuses to let Matt leave Genoa City and may use seduction to convince him to stay. Jack Abbott finally returns home, Nikki Newman learns whether her eyesight has been restored and Kyle Abbott shares surprising secrets with Victoria Newman.

Monday, July 20: Adam Makes Sally a Secret Offer

At the Shadow Room, Matt announces that he intends to leave Genoa City.

He tells Nick Newman, Noah Newman, Sharon Newman and Sienna that there is no future for him in town because everyone will always view him as a villain. Matt insists that he wants to move on, become a better man and eventually find someone who can love him.

Noah remains deeply suspicious.

He reminds Matt of the damage he caused and accuses him of continuing to manipulate Sienna. Matt fires back by referencing Noah’s own history, including the fact that Noah became involved with Matt’s wife without asking for forgiveness.

Sienna surprisingly defends Matt, saying he has recently treated her with kindness. Noah believes she is being fooled, but Matt claims he is not asking for money or another opportunity. He simply wants permission to leave.

Sharon eagerly offers to help him pack.

Matt, however, doubts that Victor will allow him to disappear. Nick promises that he will personally handle Victor and make sure Matt leaves Genoa City permanently.

That statement concerns Sharon. She worries that Nick may be considering something more violent than simply forcing Matt out of town. When she asks for reassurance, Nick does little to calm her fears.

Nick later confronts Victor and asks what he believes Matt’s ultimate fate should be.

Victor may want Matt to remain under his control. When Matt arrives at the Newman ranch and says he has failed to obtain useful information from Cane, Victor refuses to let him leave.

Victor makes it clear that he alone will decide when Matt is free to go. He threatens him with prison—or possibly something worse—if Matt fails to follow his orders.

Matt may believe Genoa City has become a prison, but Victor is determined to continue using him.

Elsewhere, Adam finds Sally studying paint colors for a nursery. The moment reminds them both of Ava, the daughter they tragically lost, and Adam briefly uses that painful memory to provoke Sally.

Their conversation soon turns to Newman Media.

Sally recently offered to sell the company back to Victor because she wants to avoid a destructive war with him. Adam believes Victor will reject her proposal simply because it came from Sally.

Adam then suggests a secret alternative.

He offers to purchase Newman Media himself under the same financial terms Sally proposed to Victor. Adam would privately compensate Sally and later tell Victor that he aggressively took the company away from her.

To Victor, it would look like a major Newman victory. In reality, Sally would avoid losing everything.

Sally is suspicious of Adam’s motives and does not want to owe him anything. Adam replies that he will always owe her, revealing that he genuinely does not want Victor to destroy her.

The plan is extremely risky. If Victor discovers that Adam secretly protected Sally, his anger could be explosive.

At the Newman ranch, tensions also rise between Victor and Nikki.

Nikki asks whether Victor would even be speaking to her if she had not lost her sight. She resents his constant surveillance and refuses to abandon her friendship with Jack Abbott simply because Victor demands it.

Victor also angers Nikki by allowing Matt to stay at the ranch.

Although they argue bitterly, Nikki admits that she will always love Victor. After she goes upstairs, Victor remains downstairs, angry and frustrated.

Phyllis later meets Matt after he contacts her in an emotional state. He says he is exhausted from being attacked and judged by everyone around him.

Phyllis refuses to let him leave.

Her determination may soon become far more personal.

Tuesday, July 21: Traci Considers Facing Martin Again

Diane Jenkins approaches Traci Abbott with a dangerous idea involving Martin Laurent.

Diane remains worried about Dr. Markham, the man who previously held her captive. She believes Martin may know something that could help the Abbotts locate him or determine whether he remains a threat.

There is one major problem: Martin is a dangerous man currently behind bars.

Traci wants nothing to do with her former tormentor. She warns Diane that Martin would never cooperate with her.

However, Traci realizes that Martin might agree to speak with her.

The possibility forces her to consider confronting him again, despite the emotional trauma and physical danger involved. Traci may ultimately decide that protecting Jack and Diane is worth the personal risk.

Elsewhere, Kyle and Victoria exchange secrets at the Genoa City Athletic Club.

Their conversation may be personal rather than business-related. Kyle could reveal information about Patty Williams, Victor or the possibility that Victor is facing serious legal trouble.

The unusual connection between Kyle and Victoria may also fuel speculation about a future romance.

Such a pairing would be complicated, especially because Kyle was previously involved with Victoria’s daughter. However, complicated romantic histories have never stopped the residents of Genoa City before.

At the Abbott mansion, Jack finally returns home after leaving the hospital.

Diane supports him through his recovery, and the couple shares a tender moment while relaxing together on the sofa. After everything they have endured, the quiet reunion offers them a brief period of comfort.

Unfortunately, the threat connected to Martin and Dr. Markham may prevent that peace from lasting.

Wednesday, July 22: Phyllis Turns on the Charm

Phyllis keeps a close watch on Matt because she is determined to stop him from leaving Genoa City.

Matt may be one of the few people in town whose reputation is even worse than hers, which gives Phyllis a strange sense of connection and leverage.

Her strategy soon becomes seductive.

Phyllis invites Matt to her room at the Genoa City Athletic Club. Dressed in blue satin sleepwear with her robe slipping from her shoulder, she deliberately creates an intimate atmosphere.

She may be trying to tempt Matt into staying—or to manipulate him into helping her with a larger plan.

The encounter becomes especially dangerous because Nick is expected to find Phyllis and Matt in a compromising position.

Seeing them together could push Nick into an emotional spiral. Sharon is already worried that the stress surrounding Matt may cause Nick to relapse into drug use.

Phyllis may believe she is controlling the situation, but her actions could have devastating consequences for Nick.

Meanwhile, Nikki arrives at her doctor’s office to receive news about her eyesight.

Victor holds her hand as the doctor removes the bandages covering her eyes. Nikki is then told that it is time to open them.

The moment could change her life.

If Nikki can see again, she may regain some of the independence Victor has attempted to restrict. If her vision has not returned, she will face an even more difficult emotional and physical recovery.

Victor makes Nikki a promise as they await the results, but the couple’s unresolved conflict over Jack and Matt remains beneath the surface.

Thursday, July 23: Adam and Chelsea Attempt to Fool Victor

Adam and Chelsea Lawson approach Victor with what appears to be a ruthless business move.

They may claim that they have forced Sally to surrender Newman Media and are returning the company to the Newman family. Victor would likely view the move as proof that Adam and Chelsea are finally willing to act without mercy.

What Victor does not know is that Adam intends to pay Sally secretly.

The arrangement allows Adam to protect Sally financially while pretending that he defeated her. He hopes to impress Victor, regain influence within Newman Enterprises and prevent Sally from becoming collateral damage in his father’s vendetta.

However, the scheme depends on everyone keeping the secret.

Adam wants the truth to remain between himself, Chelsea and Sally. One mistake could expose the entire deal and convince Victor that his son betrayed him.

Sally discusses Adam’s proposal with Audra Charles.

She knows Victor may reject her direct sale offer, leaving her with few ways to avoid a prolonged conflict. Audra and Sally may conclude that accepting Adam’s arrangement is their best available option.

Even so, trusting Adam comes with enormous personal and professional risks.

Elsewhere, Nick confesses something important to Sharon.

His admission may involve his ongoing struggle with addiction, his conversation with Victor or his feelings about Matt’s fate. Nick could even admit that part of him wants Matt dead.

Such a confession would confirm Sharon’s fears that the situation is pushing Nick toward a dangerous breaking point.

Friday, July 24: Jill’s Secret Is Exposed

Ashley Abbott finds unexpected common ground with Devon Hamilton.

Their conversation will likely involve Abby Newman and Dominic. Despite previous disagreements, Ashley and Devon may recognize that they both want to protect the family and create stability for the child.

Cane also drives a hard bargain with someone.

Billy Abbott could be the person on the other side of the negotiation. If Billy is considering working with Cane at Chancellor, he may demand specific authority, financial guarantees or protection before agreeing to the arrangement.

Billy’s willingness to cooperate may depend on whether he believes Cane is being honest about his long-term goals.

Meanwhile, Sally and Billy discover that Jill Abbott has been hiding something from them.

The secret could involve Jill’s health, her agreement with Victor regarding Chancellor or a private arrangement with Cane.

If Jill has concealed important information about the company, Billy may feel betrayed. Sally could also realize that her business future is connected to a much larger power struggle than she originally understood.

The discovery may set up a new confrontation involving Jill, Billy, Cane and Victor.

With Adam secretly undermining his father, Phyllis placing Matt in a compromising situation and Nikki preparing to learn whether she can see, the week promises major consequences throughout Genoa City.

Adam believes he can protect Sally while giving Victor the victory he wants. However, if Victor uncovers the deception, his reaction could destroy Adam’s plan—and possibly their already fragile father-son relationship.
