Sidwell Drops a Ric Lansing Bombshell on Sonny — Could His Prison Revenge Tear the Corinthos Family Apart?

A chilling confrontation behind the walls of Pentonville could set off one of the next major explosions on General Hospital. Sonny Corinthos visits Sidwell in prison believing his dangerous rival has finally been neutralized, only to discover that Sidwell may be just as threatening behind bars as he was on the outside.

Sidwell may have lost his freedom, his expensive clothes and much of his power, but he certainly has not lost his confidence.

When he walks into the prison visitation room wearing a standard beige uniform, Sonny wastes little time reminding him just how far he has fallen. Yet Sidwell does not appear intimidated.

Instead, he seems almost pleased Sonny has come.

And that is because Sidwell has something far more dangerous than a physical weapon: information about Ric Lansing.

Sidwell targets Sonny’s greatest weakness

Sidwell understands that Sonny’s loyalty to family is both one of his greatest strengths and one of his biggest vulnerabilities.

Rather than threatening Sonny with violence, Sidwell drops a disturbing secret involving Sonny’s half-brother Ric.

That single revelation could be enough to destabilize Sonny’s entire world.

Ric has recently been attempting to rebuild his place in Sonny’s life, serving as his lawyer and presenting himself as a dependable brother. After years of betrayals and complicated history between them, Sonny has finally started allowing Ric closer.

Now Sidwell is giving him a reason to question everything.

Was Ric really acting in Sonny’s best interests?

Can Sonny trust the legal advice he has received?

And what exactly has Ric been hiding?

Those questions may quickly become impossible for Sonny to ignore.

Was Jason right all along?

Making matters worse, Jason Morgan has already expressed doubts about Ric.

Jason’s instincts have repeatedly made him suspicious of Sonny’s half-brother, but Sonny chose to defend Ric and give him another chance.

Sidwell’s revelation could force Sonny to confront the possibility that Jason was right.

And for a man like Sonny, realizing he may have ignored a warning from his most trusted ally will not be easy.

The result could be growing paranoia.

Sonny may begin analyzing every conversation with Ric, questioning every document he has handled and wondering whether his own brother has been working against him.

That is precisely the kind of chaos Sidwell wants.

He does not need to escape Pentonville to hurt Sonny if he can make the Corinthos family destroy itself from within.

Ric’s jealousy could make matters worse

Ric already has problems of his own.

His jealousy over Elizabeth Baldwin growing closer to Dante Falconeri is becoming increasingly intense, and emotional obsession can lead to reckless decisions.

If Ric has done something questionable because of his feelings for Elizabeth, Sidwell may have discovered it and realized how valuable that information could become.

That would give Sidwell an ideal weapon.

He could potentially blackmail Ric, manipulate Sonny or simply sit back and watch distrust spread between the brothers.

Whatever the truth is, Sonny will now have to determine whether Sidwell is exposing a genuine betrayal or deliberately feeding him information designed to make him turn against his own family.

Sonny’s attempt to leave the mob could collapse

The timing could not be worse.

Sonny and Jason have reportedly been considering ways to reduce their involvement in the criminal world and create safer futures for their families.

But Sonny cannot walk away if he believes there is a traitor inside his own inner circle.

Sidwell’s bombshell may pull him deeper into the very life he is trying to escape.

Rather than stepping away, Sonny may feel compelled to investigate Ric, protect his organization and prove that nobody can manipulate him.

In other words, Sidwell could keep Sonny trapped in the mob without ever leaving his prison cell.

A battle for Sidwell’s empire

There is another complication.

Sonny, Valentin Cassadine and Drew Cain are all interested in what remains of Sidwell’s assets.

That means Sonny needs to stay focused if he hopes to outmaneuver his rivals.

But Sidwell has now given him a very personal distraction.

While Valentin and Drew concentrate on business, Sonny could become consumed with wondering whether Ric has betrayed him.

Sidwell may have deliberately chosen this moment to throw Sonny off balance.

Curtis could soon enter Sidwell’s web

The danger inside Pentonville may also expand.

Curtis Ashford is expected to begin serving his prison sentence, and there is speculation that he could end up sharing space with Sidwell.

If that happens, Sidwell may see Curtis as another potential weapon.

A man who can psychologically manipulate Sonny from behind bars could just as easily attempt to influence, threaten or recruit another inmate.

That means Sidwell’s imprisonment may not represent the end of his power at all.

It could simply mark the beginning of a new phase.

Will Sonny turn against his own brother?

Sonny now faces a dangerous choice.

If he confronts Ric immediately, he could reveal too much and lose his opportunity to uncover the full truth. But if he keeps Sidwell’s revelation secret, suspicion could consume him.

The smartest move may be to quietly investigate Ric—or even set a trap.

And if Sonny eventually learns that Ric truly has betrayed him, the fallout could destroy whatever fragile brotherly relationship they managed to rebuild.

Sidwell entered Pentonville looking defeated.

But after one conversation with Sonny, it becomes clear that prison bars have not made him harmless.

If the secret about Ric is real, Sidwell may have just launched his most devastating attack on Sonny without ever leaving his cell.
