The Young and the Restless Early Weekly Spoilers: Victoria and Kyle Heat Up, Phyllis Panics and Victor Faces a Family Rebellion

The Young and the Restless is heading into a volatile week in Genoa City, with romance, business warfare and family tension all threatening to explode at the same time.

Early spoilers for August 31 through September 4 tease Lily Winters pushing someone to prove a point, Victor Newman becoming increasingly frustrated with several members of his own family, Sally Spectra refusing to simply go along with Billy Abbott’s latest plans, and Phyllis Summers becoming frantic over Matt’s disappearance.

But perhaps the biggest development is the rapidly escalating attraction between Victoria Newman and Kyle Abbott, a pairing that could create chaos for both the Newman and Abbott families.

Here is what viewers can expect.

Victoria and Kyle’s business rivalry turns very personal

Victoria approaches Kyle with an idea involving a Jabot-versus-Newman-style rivalry project, and she is clearly excited about the possibilities.

Kyle is interested, although he immediately points out several problems.

He has not discussed the plan with Jack, and Victoria has apparently not told Victor either.

That alone makes the project dangerous.

Jack and Diane eventually discover Kyle and Victoria together, but Kyle refuses to explain exactly what they are discussing. He encourages his parents to focus on their upcoming trip instead.

Diane is suspicious.

Jack, however, decides not to push.

Once Jack and Diane leave, the conversation between Kyle and Victoria becomes increasingly playful.

Victoria even brings up Kyle’s infamous “Birthday Suit” sunscreen campaign, including the memorable incident where Kyle came out of the GCAC rooftop pool without his trunks.

Kyle reveals that it was not exactly an accident.

Then the flirting gets even stronger.

Victoria jokes about taking some of Kyle’s swagger away during their rivalry, while Kyle suggests she has not seen everything yet.

By Thursday, that chemistry becomes impossible to ignore.

The two reportedly begin passionately kissing.

And this does not appear to be a one-time mistake.

Victoria and Kyle’s affair could shake two powerful families

Victoria and Kyle getting involved romantically creates problems almost everywhere.

Victor is unlikely to accept his daughter becoming involved with an Abbott—especially Kyle.

Kyle, meanwhile, may take a certain amount of pleasure in knowing the relationship will infuriate Victor.

There is also Claire to consider.

Any serious romance between Kyle and Victoria is almost guaranteed to create emotional fallout there.

Jack and Diane may initially believe Kyle and Victoria’s secret discussions are purely business-related, but that assumption may not last long.

Once the truth emerges, the relationship could reopen the decades-long rivalry between the Newmans and Abbotts in a deeply personal way.

And according to the direction of the storyline, the romance may escalate faster than anyone expects.

Lily forces Billy to prove himself

The battle over Chancellor remains another major source of conflict.

Lily attempts to solve the dispute by offering to repay the old loan connected to the Abbott family’s claim.

Jack refuses.

From Jack’s perspective, the agreement was legitimate, the debt was never properly repaid, and there is no reason to pretend the contract does not exist.

He essentially tells Lily that if John Abbott had wanted the documents destroyed, he could have done so.

Jack also makes it clear that he does not intend to tear the Abbott family apart over the issue.

Instead, he tells Lily to work things out with Billy.

Lily then challenges Billy directly.

Rather than simply surrendering Chancellor, she asks him to convince her that he is actually the right person to run it.

That puts Billy in an unusual position.

He cannot simply demand control.

He has to prove that he has learned from his past mistakes.

Could getting Chancellor send Billy spiraling again?

Billy insists that his pursuit of Chancellor is not about power.

Sally does not appear entirely convinced.

Their upcoming conversation at Society looks tense, with Sally pushing back as Billy tries to explain why this situation is supposedly different from his previous obsessions.

But there is a major concern hanging over the storyline.

What happens if Billy actually gets what he wants?

Billy has a long history of becoming consumed by competition, revenge and the need to prove himself.

Taking control of Chancellor might not calm him down.

It could do the opposite.

If Lily hands him the company, Billy may become increasingly aggressive, power-hungry or reckless.

Instead of saving Chancellor, he could end up creating another disaster.

Phyllis panics over Matt’s disappearance

Phyllis is about to become increasingly frantic.

She confronts Adam and demands to know where Matt is and what the Newmans have done with him.

Adam, meanwhile, wants to know why Phyllis is so deeply invested in Matt in the first place.

That could create another argument, especially as people around Phyllis begin questioning her choices.

Daniel is also expected to clash with his mother.

He may be stunned by her connection with Matt, while Phyllis could be irritated that Daniel has chosen to work with Danny instead of supporting her.

But the real shock comes when Matt reconnects with Patty.

Patty remains in a high-security psychiatric facility, so the circumstances surrounding their interaction raise plenty of questions.

Did Matt voluntarily go there?

Or did Victor somehow arrange for Matt to be placed near Patty?

Phyllis certainly suspects Victor.

She storms over to confront him and accuses him of making Matt disappear.

Victor, however, does not appear interested in giving her any answers.

He may even enjoy watching Phyllis unravel.

Victor’s frustration with his family grows

Victor already has plenty to worry about.

Victoria is secretly getting involved with Kyle.

Nikki wants Jack to remain available to help Nick.

And Nick’s recovery is becoming emotionally complicated.

All of that puts additional pressure on Victor.

He recently visited Nick in rehab and offered some surprising honesty.

Victor admitted that he had been too hard on Nick while he was growing up and tried to reassure his son that there was no reason to feel ashamed.

But Victor also immediately became concerned when Nick mentioned Marie.

Nick has formed a strong connection with her during treatment.

Victor does not believe that relationship is necessarily good for his son.

Nick disagrees.

Nick and Marie grow increasingly close

Marie is going through her own crisis.

She learns that her husband is filing for divorce and becomes overwhelmed by the financial and emotional consequences.

She worries about paying for a lawyer.

She worries about rehab.

And she begins blaming herself for everything that has happened.

At one point, Marie asks Nick to help her find drugs.

Nick refuses.

He explains that allowing her to relapse could also threaten his own sobriety.

Instead, he talks her down and comforts her.

Nick even jokes about his own long history with divorce as he tries to convince Marie that one failed marriage does not make her a failure.

The connection between them is becoming increasingly intimate.

That friendship may soon cross another line.

If Nick and Marie develop romantic feelings for each other while still in recovery, Victor’s concerns could become much more serious.

Nikki and Victor could face another marriage crisis

Nick is also at the center of another disagreement between Victor and Nikki.

Nikki wants Jack available as someone who can support Nick through his recovery.

Victor is unlikely to love that idea.

Then there is Victoria’s relationship with Kyle.

Victor could see both situations as evidence that the Abbotts are becoming far too involved in Newman family matters.

Nikki, however, may refuse to let Victor control everyone around him.

That could place new strain on their marriage.

Jack and Diane’s romantic trip may be interrupted

Jack and Diane are preparing to leave Genoa City for some much-needed time together.

Diane wants to forget about Victor and focus on their marriage.

Jack agrees.

But their trip may not last as long as planned.

Jack has made it clear that he is willing to return if Nick needs him.

That possibility is unlikely to make Diane particularly happy, especially after she already criticized Victor for being selfish.

Their attempt to escape the drama may end with Genoa City pulling them right back in.

More romance and chaos ahead

Other storylines will also continue moving forward.

Nate’s hand surgery could determine whether he is able to return to working as a surgeon.

At the same time, his connection with Stephanie appears likely to heat up.

Kane remains close to Lily and may find himself discussing Billy and Chancellor with her over wine.

And Sally may become increasingly concerned that Billy is slipping back into old habits.

But the most explosive storyline may still belong to Victoria and Kyle.

What starts as a provocative business partnership quickly turns physical, and the consequences could reach far beyond the two of them.

Victor is already under pressure from Nick, Nikki and Victoria.

Once he discovers that his daughter is involved with Kyle Abbott, that pressure could turn into an all-out Newman-Abbott war.

With Phyllis desperate for answers, Billy chasing Chancellor, Nick growing closer to Marie and Victoria crossing a dangerous line with Kyle, Genoa City is about to become very uncomfortable for some of its most powerful families.
