Y&R Early Weekly Spoilers September 7–11: Phyllis Falls Hard, Cane Makes a Major Move and Nick Gets Caught

The Young and the Restless could be heading into a dramatic week from September 7 through September 11, with Phyllis Summers taking an increasingly dangerous emotional risk, Cane scrambling to protect his future with Lily, and Nick Newman finding himself in a situation that may create even more trouble during his time in rehab.

Meanwhile, Billy Abbott temporarily backs away from the Chancellor battle for Sally and their baby, Nate faces an important medical turning point, and Sharon may become increasingly uneasy about the woman getting closer to Nick.

Here’s what viewers can expect as several Genoa City storylines begin to collide.

Phyllis Falls Deeper for Matt

Perhaps the biggest warning sign involves Phyllis and Matt.

Lauren and Michael are already worried about their friend. Lauren believes Phyllis appears unusually devoted to Matt and fears he may be using her. She even suggests that Phyllis hasn’t seemed this emotionally consumed by a man since her complicated history with Nick.

There may also be something deeper driving Phyllis’ behavior.

Lauren suspects the trauma Phyllis experienced could be affecting the way she relates to Matt now. Phyllis may believe she can save him, understand him or even control a situation that reminds her of a time when she had very little control herself.

But Phyllis clearly sees something good in Matt.

When she meets him at the motel, she discovers a note he had written and discarded. Matt admits he has been struggling with his darker impulses, particularly after a disturbing conversation with Patty.

Patty apparently believes Matt will never truly change.

Phyllis refuses to accept that.

She insists Matt is capable of kindness and urges him to turn to her whenever he feels himself slipping toward darkness. Their emotional connection becomes physical, and afterward Phyllis makes an astonishing promise: she wants to help Matt become one of the most respected men in Genoa City.

That is an enormous goal considering his history.

During the week of September 7, Phyllis may fall even harder. An “I love you” moment may not be far away.

The more interesting question is whether Matt genuinely loves Phyllis—or whether the two are developing a dangerous codependency that could ultimately destroy them both.

Cane and Lily Grow Closer

Cane and Lily continue exploring their renewed romantic connection as well.

Their flirtation becomes increasingly obvious when Cane offers to pamper Lily with a massage. A call from their daughter interrupts the intimate moment, but the conversation soon turns toward whether they should publicly confirm that they are back together.

Cane seems ready.

Lily is more cautious.

She wants to enjoy what they have without rushing into a public declaration that could bring additional pressure.

Their romantic progress, however, is interrupted by Billy.

Billy arrives with surprising news: after Sally experiences a pregnancy scare, he has decided to back away from the fight over Chancellor.

At least for now.

Billy tells Lily and Cane that Sally and the baby have become his priority, making the Chancellor battle less urgent.

Cane immediately sees the potential opportunity.

Billy may be temporarily retreating, but Cane does not believe the war is truly over.

Billy Calls a Temporary Ceasefire

Sally’s pregnancy scare changes Billy’s priorities.

Although Sally assures him that she and the baby are fine, she admits the stress surrounding Chancellor has become overwhelming.

Billy responds by promising to step back.

However, once he returns home, Billy makes it clear that this is not necessarily a permanent surrender. It is more like a ceasefire.

Sally and their child come first, but Billy could revisit the Chancellor issue after the baby arrives.

That gives Cane a valuable window.

During the September 7–11 week, expect Cane to focus heavily on the mystery surrounding the Chancellor loan.

The central question is simple: If the money existed, why wasn’t the loan repaid?

Cane may begin digging into what Jill knew, what Katherine knew and whether Billy actually has the legal case he believes he does.

Jill could hold the answer.

But getting her to reveal everything may be another matter entirely.

Nick Gets Closer to Marie in Rehab

Nick’s rehab storyline may become increasingly complicated.

Sharon appears poised to visit him, but she could be surprised by the connection developing between Nick and Marie.

That may create some uncomfortable emotions.

Sharon knows Nick extremely well, and if she senses something suspicious about Marie, she may not remain silent.

There is also the spoiler indicating that Nick will be caught in a compromising position.

One possibility is that Nick and Marie share a kiss or another intimate moment before someone from the rehab staff unexpectedly walks in.

If Sharon witnesses part of this growing connection, things could become even more awkward.

Victor may also develop concerns about Marie, while Nikki could argue that everyone needs to stop interfering and allow Nick to focus on his recovery.

Kyle and Victoria’s Attraction Explodes

Another relationship could be heading into dangerous territory.

Kyle and Victoria’s supposed rivalry may start looking far less convincing as their attraction becomes impossible to ignore.

What may have started as a one-time encounter could quickly transform into a full-blown affair.

Even more dangerous, physical attraction may eventually lead to genuine feelings.

If that happens, their secret relationship could create enormous complications throughout both the Abbott and Newman families.

Nate Faces a Critical Surgery

Nate also has an important week ahead.

He undergoes reconstructive surgery on his hand, a procedure that could determine whether he ever has the opportunity to return to surgery himself.

Stephanie is expected to support him, while Lily and Devon may also rally around Nate during the procedure.

If the surgery succeeds, Nate will have plenty to celebrate—and his growing bond with Stephanie could become even stronger.

Their relationship appears to be moving forward despite some concern from others about their age difference.

Jack and Diane’s Romantic Trip Hits Trouble

Jack and Diane are supposed to be enjoying a romantic getaway, but their trip takes an unexpected turn.

Whether the problems are simply bad luck or someone deliberately interfering remains to be seen.

Given Victor’s long-running conflict with Jack, viewers may naturally wonder whether he has anything to do with their travel difficulties.

Hopefully, Jack and Diane make it back to Genoa City without their romantic escape turning into a complete disaster.

Is Phyllis Heading Toward Her Biggest Mistake Yet?

Of all these stories, Phyllis may be taking the greatest gamble.

Lauren can see the warning signs.

Michael sees the danger.

Even Matt himself appears worried about what he might become.

Yet Phyllis seems determined to believe that love can rescue him from his darkest instincts.

That confidence could either produce an extraordinary redemption story—or place Phyllis directly in the path of disaster.

With Cane investigating the Chancellor mystery, Nick getting closer to Marie, Kyle and Victoria struggling to control their attraction and Phyllis becoming increasingly obsessed with saving Matt, the week of September 7–11 could push several Genoa City relationships past the point of no return.
