Did General Hospital Just Set Up Maxie’s Official Exit?
We all know that General Hospital has had a Maxie problem on its hands lately, as the character’s been MIA for some pretty major stuff. She wasn’t around for any kind of Cassius confrontation, nor was she there for James as he learned that his dad wasn’t his real dad.
The show’s done its best to come up with explanations, but with Kirsten Storms revealing that she’s not sure if she’ll be back, it’s been tough to rationalize all the missed opportunities with Maxie.

And then, on General Hospital’s Wednesday episode, we finally heard from her! Sort of. At the end of the episode, Maxie called Michael. But all we heard was Michael’s guarded, but intrigued, “I’m listening…” That was somewhat baffling until we got to the preview for Thursday with Tracy confronting Lucy over Deception moves, demanding, “What’s to help you from using a grieving child from stealing Maxie?”
Now, it seems clear that Maxie’s Deception shares about to come into play in the brewing corporate storyline. And she’s probably called Michael to stay out of it, either wanting him to act as her proxy or even to sell her shares directly to him.
No matter how we view it, it seems that General Hospital is setting up a definitive reason for Maxie’s absence. That could be buying them time to recast, if needed, or to simply write Maxie off for the time being. Maybe she and Spinelli will decide to just extend their vacation indefinitely. If she rakes in money by selling her Deception shares, who needs to work?
It’s been, admittedly, strange to keep James around without his mom ever joining him. But if Tracy’s worried about him being used against Maxie in this Deception fight, it could be the show’s chance to send him off with his mom. Between that and handing things over to Michael, there wouldn’t be any need for Maxie to be in town anytime soon.
