General Hospital Recap: Nina and Jack Have Sex, Carly Feels Snubbed by Jason

The Monday, July 20 episode of General Hospital introduced a new Scout (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) and a new set of lovers: Jack (Chris McKenna) and Nina (Cynthia Watros)! Meanwhile, Carly (Laura Wright) was hurt when she found out Jason (Steve Burton) hadn’t told her he was home, Chase (Josh Swickard) established new boundaries with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), Laura (Genie Francis) refused to lie for Ezra (Daniel Cosgrove), Brick (Stephen A. Smith) put the squeeze to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and more. Here’s the full rundown.

About Last Night

Nina woke up in Jack’s bed, naked and groggy after a night of impromptu lovemaking. She steered their conversation back to their need to track down the black box containing dirt on Drew, which he took to mean that she’d slept with him to ensure his cooperation.

Offended, Nina shot back that she was not desperate enough to help Willow to prostitute herself and called him a disgusting pig. “No wonder Carly dumped you,” she seethed.

Jack apologized, admitting that his defenses were up in light of recent events. Pulling her close, he told her that he’d greatly enjoyed their evening. Nina’s eyes lit up when he added, “Maybe we can do it again sometime.” Still, she said, given the precariousness of their situation, sleeping together again would complicate their alliance. Jack agreed… but they both seemed a bit disappointed.

Let’s Make a Deal

Molly, who canceled her book tour to prosecute the case against Sidwell, met with Laura at the PCPD. The mayor assured Molly that she was willing to testify against Sidwell in court. Meanwhile, Joe interrogated a jumpy Ezra, noting that from what he’d witnessed the day of Sidwell’s arrest, Ezra had clearly been aiding and abetting a known fugitive.

Ezra denied it, and when Laura and Molly emerged from the interrogation room, Ezra pulled Laura aside and pleaded with her to intervene on his behalf. Laura encouraged him to cut a plea deal with the DA’s office, immunity in exchange for evidence of Sidwell’s crimes. Though Ezra was reluctant to air his dirty laundry, Laura informed Molly that Ezra was willing to cooperate with the DA’s office as part of a plea bargain. She added that she had personally witnessed Sidwell threatening Ezra and believed that he deserved leniency.

Later, Molly and Ezra reported to Joe and Laura that Ezra had been granted immunity. Laura hugged Ezra and told him she was proud of him.

Three’s a Crowd

Chase and Brook Lynn enjoyed a leisurely morning at home, and he reiterated how important it was that the PCPD never find out what she’d done to frame Willow.

Brook Lynn excused herself to take a call from Lucy, and Willow entered to find Chase alone in the solarium. She felt him out about taking a day trip to Washington, D.C. with her for a law-enforcement conference.

Chase politely declined, explaining that he and Brook Lynn had made “a mutual decision to prioritize our family.” Getting the message, Willow told Chase that she respected his decision and would keep her distance. “All I want is for you to be happy,” she insisted.

Access Granted

Having been dropped off by Willow at the Quartermaine stables, Scout revealed to Tracy that she was hoping to use the lake on the property for swim practice. Brook Lynn entered and observed how grown-up Scout looked. Scout explained that she was training for a charity swim and would donate the money she raised to breast cancer research in honor of Monica. Tracy pointedly asked Scout, “What’s the catch?”

Scout admitted there was one: She wanted Tracy to let Drew watch her swim. Tracy agreed to allow Drew onto the property for that reason and that reason alone. Scout left, and Tracy remarked to Brook Lynn that the young woman was definitely a Quartermaine.

Out in the Open

Lulu met with Sonny and Ric for legal advice about Rocco. The men were stunned when Lulu revealed that it was Rocco, not Jason, who shot Cullum. She ran down the whole story to them, worried that Rocco had told a number of people what he’d done, Britt included.

Ric assured her that even if Britt did implicate Rocco, it would be hearsay and inadmissible in court. “I believe Rocco is pretty much in the clear,” he told a relieved Lulu.

Lulu thanked Ric and Sonny for putting her mind at ease, and Sonny gently chastised her for not coming to him sooner. Lulu then told Sonny she had another worry: Valentin. “Anything you can do about him?” she wondered.

Lulu and Sonny agreed that they didn’t want Charlotte or Donna anywhere near Valentin. Ric was flabbergasted at the news that Carly and Valentin were an item, and Sonny told Lulu that while Carly wasn’t listening to him, he was working on another way to get rid of Valentin. He cryptically stated that if everything went according to plan, Valentin would make the wise decision to leave town on his own.

Baggage Claim

Charlotte showed up at Carly’s with luggage and asked her if she could move in. She briefed Carly on her fight with Lulu over her desire to live with her dad, but Carly encouraged her to head home and work things out with her mom, citing how close she and Bobbie had become after navigating rough patches.

Charlotte was disappointed that Carly was siding with Lulu and complained that the only person who understood where she was coming from was Danny — but she couldn’t talk to him because he was on a trip with his dad.

Carly was startled to learn that Jason was back and hadn’t contacted her, noting how little time it would have taken him to text or call her with the news. Charlotte showed her the Danny/Jason selfie that Danny had texted her. Carly conceded that they looked happy and that it made sense that when Jason got home, he’d “zeroed in on what was most important, his son.”

Going Nowhere

While Valentin was shooting hoops, Brick sidled onto the basketball court and snarked, “Guess white men really can’t jump.” He offered Valentin some advice on form — and advised him to take the “gift” the WSB had handed him and start a new life away from Port Charles.

Brick then introduced himself by name. Valentin said he’d heard all about him — and knew he was Sonny’s friend. Brick made it clear that he was wary of Carly’s involvement with Valentin and opined that if Valentin truly cared about Carly — and Charlotte — he would leave town and never look back.

Valentin insisted he was a changed man and wasn’t going anywhere. He told Brick to let Sonny know that he planned to build a life with Carly and Charlotte.

Is Laura’s soft spot for Ezra a sign of trouble in her marriage? Will Jack and Nina be able to resist another round of passion? Will Sonny succeed in getting Valentin out of Carly’s life?
